Overview
Accounting is the language of business. Those who master it don’t only keep score. They shape the decisions that move organisations forward. This programme prepares you to lead those decisions.
It is a programme for analytical, ambitious minds: those who want to build careers in accounting, finance and advisory, and to earn the professional recognition that opens doors around the world.
Your journey begins with two years at KCIC, Chennai, earning a UK-regulated Higher National Diploma in Accounting and Finance. Financial reporting, management accounting, financial management, business law and the business environment form your foundation.
Then, two years in New Zealand at the University of Otago, founded in 1869 as New Zealand’s first university. At Otago Business School, one of fewer than 100 business schools worldwide to hold dual EQUIS and AACSB accreditation, you complete a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting, with papers that meet the academic requirements of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and CPA Australia.
You graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Otago, recognised worldwide.
The Otago Way
Where accounting is taught as a profession.
At Otago, accounting is a professional programme. Students can work towards membership of CA ANZ, CPA Australia, ACCA or CIMA, and most choose the degree structure that meets the CA ANZ and CPA Australia academic requirements, because professional membership brings greater scope for career advancement, better remuneration and more variety in the work.
Otago Business School is known internationally for excellence in research and teaching, and was one of the first schools worldwide to adopt the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
And you study in Dunedin, Australasia’s only true university city, where student life, study and community come together within a short walk of campus.
Here, you graduate ready for the profession.
