Accounting
Begin with a Pearson BTEC HND in Business in Chennai, then progress into the final year of a bachelor's degree overseas.
Overview
Every great decision in business begins with the numbers. This programme teaches you to read them, shape them and lead with them.
It is a programme for analytical minds: those who want to understand how organisations measure value, make decisions and account for their impact, on investors, on people and on the planet.
Your journey begins with two years at KCIC, Chennai, earning a UK-regulated Higher National Diploma in Business, with a specialism in accounting and finance. Markets, people and leadership form your foundation, joined by financial reporting, management accounting and financial management.
From your second semester, the classroom extends into the professional world. Two days of study. Three days within an organisation. Each lesson, lived.
Then, two years in England at the University of Essex, home to Essex Business School, the UK’s first zero-carbon business school, set within 200 acres of parkland and less than an hour from London. You enter the second year of your degree and choose your major:
Accounting, for those who want to master the full discipline of the profession.
Accounting with Economics, for those who want to understand the economic forces that shape every balance sheet.
Either way, you graduate with a full honours degree from the University of Essex, accredited by the world’s leading professional accounting bodies.
Two Majors, One Journey
A shared foundation. A choice of direction.
Both majors share the same accounting core at Essex: financial reporting, management accounting, contemporary issues in financial reporting, and the debates shaping public, social and environmental accounting. Both are accredited by ACCA, ICAEW and CIMA for exemptions from professional examinations.
BSc (Hons) Accounting
The complete accountant’s education. Alongside the core, you study corporate finance and corporate and business law, with options to maximise your professional exemptions. You may graduate with a specialist qualifier: Professional Knowledge and Skills, designed to secure the maximum ACCA, ICAEW and CIMA exemptions, or Corporate Sustainability, preparing you for the growing field of sustainability accounting.
BSc (Hons) Accounting with Economics
The accountant who sees the whole economy. Alongside the accounting core, you study intermediate microeconomics and economics options in your final year, understanding how markets, policy and economic behaviour shape the numbers.
