Master of Professional Practice
Prepare for 6 months at KCIC, then complete a Master of Professional Practice with WelTec | Whitireia in New Zealand.
Overview
The most respected professionals do not only practise. They improve how practice itself is done. This programme prepares you to lead that change.
It is a master’s degree for experienced and aspiring professionals in healthcare and beyond: those who want to advance their practice, lead inter-professional teams, and use research to improve the services people depend on.
Your journey begins with six months at KCIC, Chennai, studying for the UK-regulated ATHE Level 7 Extended Diploma in Health Care Practice. Healthcare policy, organisational strategy, continuous improvement, public-sector finance and research for senior managers form your foundation, credited towards your master’s degree.
Then, twelve months in New Zealand at Whitireia and WelTec, in the Wellington region, New Zealand’s capital. You master the methods of practice-based research, deepen your professional practice in advancement, education or leadership, and complete a Praxis Research Project: original research that improves real practice.
You graduate with the Master of Professional Practice, a Level 9 qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
The Whitireia and WelTec Way Where research and practice become one.
The Master of Professional Practice is interdisciplinary by design. You learn alongside professionals from a diverse range of fields, developing practice at an advanced level and the ability to lead inter-professional teams.
At its heart is praxis: the union of reflection and action. Your research does not stay on the page. It is designed to change how you, and those around you, practise.
In New Zealand, your study is supported by supervision, industry and community engagement, and face-to-face mentoring.
Here, scholarship is measured by its impact on practice.
