Computing & Digital
Information Technology
Develop skills across computing, software and emerging technologies, with progression routes into international technology degrees.
Overview
The world now runs on technology. This programme teaches you to build it, secure it and lead it.
It is a degree for those who want to solve real problems with technology: designing systems, securing networks, building applications and guiding organisations through digital change.
Your journey begins with a year and a half at KCIC, Chennai. Three intensive semesters build your foundation in programming, networking, databases and security, before you specialise in Computing, Network Engineering or Cyber Security, earning UK-regulated Pearson BTEC qualifications along the way.
Then, a year and a half in Melbourne at RMIT University, ranked tenth in Australia for Computer Science and Information Systems in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. You complete a degree shaped with industry partners including Amazon Web Services and Palo Alto Networks, specialising in cyber security, digital innovation or enterprise system development.
You graduate with the full Bachelor of Information Technology from RMIT University, accredited at Professional level by the Australian Computer Society and recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord.
The RMIT Way Where technology is learnt the way industry builds it.
At RMIT, IT is taught through the Bootcamp2Studio model: intensive programming bootcamps followed by studio-based projects, where you solve real-world challenges in teams and on your own.
An Industry Advisory Committee of staff from major global and local IT companies shapes the curriculum, and work-integrated learning is embedded throughout, so you build a professional network while you study.
In your final semester, a capstone project places you in a real or simulated workplace, working as part of a software team and receiving feedback from industry.
