Program Overview
HND Computing is an internationally recognised pathway for students aiming to build a global career in technology and digital innovation. It is a UK-regulated qualification overseen by Ofqual, a UK Government authority that ensures strict academic quality and standards. The programme is equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and focuses on practical, industry-driven learning rather than purely classroom-based theory. After completing the HND, students transfer to one of our partner universities abroad to complete the final one or two years of their degree. Many universities offer an optional paid industry placement year, typically taken before the final year, where students can earn competitive stipends depending on the country, role, and employer. Upon successful completion, students graduate with a full international bachelor’s degree in specialised areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, or Robotics, supporting strong global career opportunities in high-demand technology sectors.
Study Journey from KCIC to Study Abroad
HNC Computing builds strong foundations in programming, systems architecture, networking, cybersecurity, and data management. Through hands-on projects and industry-focused assignments, students strengthen problem-solving, analytical thinking, and collaborative skills. The programme provides a solid digital base at HNC level, enabling progression into specialist pathways such as DevOps, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or Network Engineering. Students may also transfer directly into Year 2 of selected university bachelor’s programmes, including Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDS), Robotics, Games Design and Development, and Generative AI majors, subject to entry requirements.
HND Computing develops advanced skills in software development, cloud systems, cybersecurity, data analytics, and DevOps through industry-focused projects and applied learning. Students choose specialist pathways such as Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or Cloud and Network Engineering, and can progress to the final year of specialised university BSc degrees or Year 3 of a BEng/BTech in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Games Development, Computer Systems, or Generative AI. directly to year 2 of an University bachelor's specialised programs such as AIDS, Robotics, Games Design & Development, GenAI (Majors)
On successful completion of the HND, students transfer to one of our international partner institutions and complete the final one/two years of study to be awarded a full international bachelor’s degree. Available degree options include AI & Machine Learning, Data Science & Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing/DevOps, and Robotics. Exit option with BSc (Hons) and apply for 18 months work permits
This option is available only for BEng/MEng programs - an optional placement year, allowing students to take a break from studies to gain real industry experience. Typically, students may earn up to £20,000 per year during this placement, or they may choose to continue directly into their final year of study.
In Year 5, students return after placement year to the university to complete their final year of study and graduate with a full international bachelor’s degree.
Upon graduation, students receive a full international degree and are eligible for an 18–24 month post-study work visa, allowing them to stay and seek employment. This visa permits full-time work and does not require employer sponsorship.
