Overview:

This course is designed to meet the growing Aero industries demand of 25000 skilled engineers by 2020. Most jobs are likely to be graduate level, expecting the potential candidate to be job or industry ready with knowledge on latest technologies. And continue to learn the Aircraft Flight Control Systems, Aircraft Propulsion Principles and Technology, Aircraft Structural Integrity, Avionic Systems, Aircraft Gas Turbine Engine Design and Performance Advanced Composite Materials for Aerospace, Applications, Advanced Turbine Rotary Wing Mechanical and Flight Systems and Computer Aided Design and Manufacture.

Nothing in this world runs without Electrical or Electronic component. Our everyday work revolves around electrical and electronic devices be it in our office or home. Many products ranging from washing machines to motor vehicle operate on electrical or electronics subsystems. These often contain digital and microprocessor-based circuits, sensors and control systems that sense and control the environment and may control a significant amount of electrical power - for example, traction control in electric locomotives. These and other areas, such as electrical power transmission and conversion, constitute the subject of electrical and electronics engineering.

Electrical and Electronics Engineers play a significant role in Automation. Auto-focus cameras, car cruise control and automated airport baggage handling systems are examples of mechatronic systems (Automation). Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical, electrical and computer/controlled engineering working together in automated systems and ‘smart’ product design.

Whilst this course shares some modules with both the Aerospace Systems Engineering and Automotive Engineering programmes, it gives you flexibility to gain employment across a broader range of industries. It is also the first step towards gaining chartered engineer status. This course will help you learn the fundamental skills and knowledge required by the modern engineer including principles of flight and an introduction to aircraft systems, in particular, you will be introduced to computer packages commonly used in the aerospace industry. You will learn about the design process and will have the opportunity to work on the class 200 Formula Student Car. If you are taking a specialisation in Mechatronics you will learn to handle a wide range of technologies in sensors, actuators, interface hardware, control system, analogue and digital electronics, software engineering and concurrent design. Gain knowledge and skills in manufacturing engineering relative to; complex systems and strategies including business and financial questions, technological advances in intelligent systems robotics and materials.
